Hawthorn Academy of Healing Herbs

The objective of the Hawthorn Academy of Healing Herbs is to empower people to become self-reliant, self responsible and self-sufficient in caring for their health and the health of their families. There is also great encouragement to forge a deeper connection with the Sacredness of Nature and our Plant Relations. In this way, these herbalist courses are truly holistic and take into consideration the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of all.

The course "An Introduction to Herbal Medicine" is a wealth of information for those unsure where to begin in the world of plants and herbs, and also beneficial to those with prior plant and herbal experience.

In today's fast paced, technological world, using herbs as medicine is a radical way to personal empowerment and good health. Working with plants, growing plants and processing them for our own health encourages us to become the guardians of the planet and feel more in touch with Mother Earth.

Our vision

At the Hawthorn Academy we are working with the idea that plants are sentient, intelligent and magical. By working with plants we can expect deeper, more lasting healing and we come to recognise that the natural world is full of magic! The Wise Woman or folk tradition of healing includes working with the Sun and the Moon whilst in a state of reciprocity with the plants.

Throughout the year there are several courses held in person, live at the Hawthorn Academy; as well as herbal courses where you can study online. The online “Introduction to Herbal Medicine” is an excellent foundation herbal course, giving you an insight into herbal or plant medicine as well as lots of practical skills. This course can be followed by other courses that are more focused on particular health issues. See below for all the herbal medicine courses on offer. You can choose a course for a specific health issue or for delving deeper into a relationship within the world of plants.

Terri doesn’t simplify it but seems to communicate the very pulse of it all. Through this course, I have not only learned a great deal about Herbs and their many uses and preparations but have deepened my relationship and understanding of the Plant world.
